"I'd love to, but I don't have anyone to come with" – the most common thing we hear. The answer: most people come on their own. During the class, partners rotate every few minutes, and when you sign up we make sure the numbers of Leaders and Followers are balanced.
Our studio: Tramstrasse 66 in Münchenstein – Tram 10 to «Walzwerk», just a few minutes from Basel. You register individually, choose your role – Leader or Follower – and from the very first lesson you'll be dancing with everyone in the class.

QUESTIONS
Can I really sign up on my own?
Yes. When you sign up, you simply choose your role (Leader or Follower). If a role is currently full, it will say so on the course – in that case the waiting list or a different evening might help.
What do Leader and Follower mean? In Bachata (and many other partner dances), one person leads and the other follows. We use the terms **Leader** and **Follower** for this. The **Leader** guides the movement and decides which steps or figures are danced next. The **Follower** receives these signals and responds to them. Traditionally, the Leader role was danced by men and the Follower role by women – but at Bachata Basel everyone is welcome to learn whichever role they feel drawn to, regardless of gender. Some dancers even learn both roles!
Leader leads the figure, Follower follows – regardless of gender. You can choose freely and learn the other role later on.
Isn't that strange with strangers?
At the beginning maybe two minutes – then no more. The partner rotation is the reason why so many friendships form in our courses.
What does a course cost?
A block of 8 lessons costs CHF 160. The first lesson is free, so you can have a look first.
Are there also courses for couples?
Sure – couples can sign up as a couple and stay together if they prefer. Most couples still enjoy rotating after a few weeks though.
